Sunday Gleaning / Josh Khouri ~ Acts 16
The gritty truth about your calling…
You may fit in better at
Disneyland than a war zone.
You will come back with scars from that which you were blessed to do.
You are going to experience midnight in your calling.
Joseph – as so as he steps into his calling- everything starts to go badly. Even God orchestrated the struggle because the — was in the struggle.
You are going to bleed, be wounded, cry
All of that is in your calling, part of your calling
Your calling is going to be difficult bc 3 things are fighting against you:
1. Yourself.
You need people than you can confess to, that can rebuke you and hold you accountable. Because your greatest danger is YOU.
2. The demonic
Pray a prayer of authority,
God gave you to your children that you might fight for your children in the name of Jesus and resist the devil that he might flee
3. The world
People will criticize, judge, & reject you for walking out your calling. You will be gossiped about. You’re not supposed to be popular with everybody.
*** About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. (Acts 16:25 NIV)
In the darkest hour, they lifted their eyes to Jesus. They remembered… the promises of God. They start singing hymns to God.
They worship.
Selfish, dark, demonic thinking can only be quieted by worship.
… and the other orisoners were listening…
Your midnight hour is not the absence of calling- but the greatest opportunity to live out your calling. Not faking it- but trusting God in your darkest hours.
… Psalm 6 … prayer
And then ~
Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. (Acts 16:26 NIV)
Wait on the deliverance if The Lord.
Midnight is not contrary to your calling. It’s part of it. It becomes part of your testimony and brings grace to those who need to hear it.
You alone save me
Brokenness is all I bring
You resurrect and you redeem
You alone save me
